Connect your Suunto watch
Milewise is compatible with Suunto. This page is the whole of it: what connecting does, what Milewise reads, what it writes back, and how to undo it.
Milewise is invite-only while it is in launch preparation. If you do not have an account yet, put your address on the list at milewise.de and the steps below will be waiting for you.
Connecting, in four steps
- Sign in to Milewise at app.milewise.de.
- Open You, then Settings. Suunto is in the list of apps you can connect.
- Press Connect. You are taken to Suunto’s own sign-in page, where you approve the connection. Milewise never sees your Suunto password.
- You land back in Milewise. Your recent workouts appear within a few minutes, and sleep and recovery from the night after you connect.
Nothing else is required. There is no code to copy and no file to export.
What Milewise reads
- Your completed workouts: sport, start time, duration, distance, ascent, heart rate and energy, plus the detail behind each one (your route, laps, power and cadence) from the workout’s own file.
- Sleep and recovery recorded by your watch overnight. This is what the morning readiness call is made from, so if you do not wear the watch at night Milewise says it cannot tell rather than guessing.
Milewise does not read your daily step count, and it reads nothing from before you connect except your recent workout history.
What Milewise writes back
One thing: your planned sessions, as SuuntoPlus Guides. When your coach writes a training plan, the upcoming sessions are compiled into guides on your Suunto account, with their steps and targets intact.
Getting a guide onto the watch is your step, not ours. Milewise puts the guide in your Suunto app; you pin it and sync. That is why the coach will never tell you a workout is on your watch. It can only tell you the guide is waiting.
Milewise never uploads activities to Suunto, never changes a workout you recorded, and never writes routes.
Turning it off
Open You, then Settings, and disconnect Suunto. Milewise revokes its own access at Suunto first, then deletes the connection and the Suunto data it had stored, and removes any guides it had put on your account. Deleting your Milewise account does the same thing.
If something looks wrong
- No workouts after connecting. Give it a few minutes; Milewise reads on a schedule rather than instantly.
- No sleep or recovery. Those arrive for nights after you connect, and only if you wore the watch.
- A guide is not on the watch. Open the Suunto app, check the guide is pinned, then sync the watch.
- Anything else: admin@milewise.de.
What happens to the data itself is set out in the privacy policy: what the coach reads and the one thing it writes.
